Shiner, the U.K.-based skate specialist, has taken over the distribution of Pro-Tec's skate and bike protective gear for Europe. Known especially for its helmets, Pro-Tec was founded in 1973. As reported in Boardsportsource, it was acquired in late 2012 by DYE Precision, a company based in San Diego, which began to service the European market out of its manufacturing facility in Germany. Formed in 1994, DYE is a machining and inspection systems company that specializes in quality control systems and products for paintball and snow sports.
