Skechers Performance has been named the official footwear partner for the 2017 Solheim Cup, the women's team golf competition between Europe and the U.S. The event will take place in the U.S., at the Des Moines Golf and Country Club in Iowa, on Aug. 18-20. Selected players will wear a limited-edition shoe from Skechers' Go Golf range, created by the brand for each team. In addition, caddies, coaches and officials will all be outfitted in Skechers Performance footwear. The Solheim Cup is a biennial golf tournament for professional women golfers contested by teams representing Europe and the U.S. The competition is named after Karsten Solheim, the Norwegian-American maker of golf clubs who was also a driving force behind the creation of the event. The inaugural Cup was held in 1990. The current holder is the U.S., who won the tournament at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in Germany in 2015. At the 2017 event, Team Europe will be captained by Annika Sorenstam while Team USA will be captained by Juli Inkster.
