Slazenger has secured a sponsorship deal with England Hockey, providing the kit uniforms for the England international field hockey teams starting with the 2006/07 season, but it will not supply them with its own hockey sticks, balls, goalkeeping equipment and other related products. The brand will also put out a line of field hockey replica clothing. England Hockey is an association formed in 2003 after the bankruptcy of the former Hockey Association. It has also secured other sponsors such as ASICS for shoes and Lucozade Sport, a supplier of sports drinks, to help re-launch the England Hockey National League in time for the London Olympics, which will host a new purpose-built facility for the discipline. The association includes 1,200 clubs with 80,000 members playing mainly field hockey. According to Barry Snellgrove, who runs England Hockey, more and more school children are playing field hockey, indoors or outdoors.
