Jennifer McLaren, CEO of Denver-based merino specialist Smartwool, has named two new executives for the brand’s sales and e-commerce departments.

Corey Stecker, previously international general manager of sales and marketing, was promoted to global head of sales. He has been with Smartwool since 2016. In his new role, he assumes responsibility for wholesale and distribution channels worldwide, including in the U.S., Canada, EMEA and emerging markets. Stecker previously spent nearly 9 years in leading marketing roles at The North Face in Montréal, Canada. Prior to that, he worked in marketing at Burton, Sticky Media and distributor WL Activewear, among others.

Matt Etzler was named global head of e-commerce. Etzler gained a few years of professional experience as a business analyst at Deloitte before spending five years at retail chain Sports Authority in Denver as program manager for e-commerce operations. After a three-year stint as director of digital in the coffee industry and another three years of digital marketing with his own agency, he finally joined Smartwool in 2020 as senior manager of e-commerce. This division is a central pillar of Smartwool’s strategic growth strategy. In his new role, Etzler will lead Smartwool’s digital transformation and expand digital commerce channels globally for the brand.

Stecker and Etzler take over these expanded responsibilities from Scott Bowers, Smartwool’s vice president of U.S. sales, who announced his retirement in June after four years with the company. Stecker and Etzler will report directly to McLaren.
