The sports and lifestyle retailer Snipes is building a new service and logistics center in Bedburg, Germany, in order to be positioned for the planned expansion of the company. The construction is the largest logistics investment ever made by the sneaker and streetwear retailer. According to the company, Snipes is thus optimizing its digital capabilities and sharpening the company’s omnichannel structure. The new building will create approximately 600 jobs with different qualification levels in the region.

The new logistics center is one and a half times the size of the company’s existing site and, with the help of modern processes, will be able to handle twice the volume as before. In the future, all Europe-wide Snipes stores will be supplied from Bedburg and the online business. Globally, the German company runs over 700 stores. The current main Snipes logistics site in Wesseling will continue to be used as a logistics location even after the new building in Bedburg. A realization period of approximately three years is expected. An official date for the start of construction has not yet been set. The parties have not disclosed the amount of the investment.

A few days ago, Snipes announced the appointment of Peter Buse as its new chief operating officer, who will also be responsible for IT and logistics.
