Snowsports Industries of Great Britain (SIGB) has launched “Go UK, Buy UK,” a new campaign to encourage British skiers and snowboarders to buy their kit and equipment in the U.K. The campaign raises awareness of some of the advantages associated with buying homemade items, and specifically from retailers who are members of SIGB. These advantages include the professional advice offered by U.K. specialist retailers, the comfort and performance offered by good fitting equipment as opposed to rented equipment, the worry-free warranty that derives from avoiding potential warranty or customs issues with foreign retailers, and after-sale support for the repairs and maintenance of skiing and snowboarding tools. In addition, the campaign stresses that buying in the U.K. means supporting the British snowsports industry, in itself a good cause as British athletes are also supported by the industry. The U.K. snowsport trade has invested more than £1.2 million (€1.6m-$1.8m) to promote skiing and snowboarding at all levels in the past 20 years, says the trade body.
