Sole Technology, the group selling action sports brands from Etnies to Emerica, Altamont and ThirtyTwo, has moved into a new European head office in the Houthavens district of Amsterdam. The company first set up its European office in the Dutch capital in 2007, but the new building is equipped with many applications to reduce energy consumption, which fits with the group's aim to become carbon neutral by 2020. Sole Technology says that the building's energy consumption is about 60 percent below that of comparable buildings without such applications. The biggest reduction comes from a geothermal heating and cooling system, but the building is also fitted with solar panels that may give energy to the electricity grid. The new office is not far from the port of Amsterdam and from the Damrak, the shopping street where Sole Technology opened its first store for Etnies, the skating footwear brand.
