Sole Technology, the parent company of Etnies, éS, Emerica, ThirtyTwo and Altamont, says that it saved $100,000 last year with its energy-saving programs. Among the programs were the installation of solar panels and rebates through the local (California) power company. Sole Technology has also retrofitted the lighting in three of its office buildings, which it expects to save more than $20,000 in the next two years. With all of its efforts, so far the reduction in greenhouse gases is estimated at 180 tons. The company has its own energy task force. On Earth Day it gave its first-ever Green Sole Awards to Southern California Edison, the power company; Progressive Energy Management, its lighting contractor; and Zero Motorcycles, maker of an electric motorbike being tested by the Etnies motocross team
