Speedo International has appointed the German and Austrian sales subsidiaries of Oberalp to be the new distributors for the swimwear brand in those two countries. The decision came after a mutual agreement between Speedo and Action Sports, which has been the distributor in these two countries for some time. Better known internationally as the parent company of Salewa and a couple of other outdoor and snow sports brands such as Dynafit, Silvretta, Wild Country and Pomoca, Oberalp has already been distributing Speedo in Italy since 2008. Just recently, the Oberalp group decided to rename Salewa's subsidiaries in Germany and Austria Oberalp Deutschland and Oberalp Austria, respectively, to emphasize a new strategy of also distributing other brands that don't belong to the Italian group. Based in South Tyrol, on the border with Austria, Oberalp distributes many other brands on the Italian market.
