Sport 2000 Deutschland has reported an increase in centralized settlements of 10.8 percent for the first five months of this year, as compared to the same period of the previous year. Affiliated retailers have reported an increase in their own sales of 2.5 percent for the same period. At the end of May, Sport 2000 had 1,020 affiliated retailers with 1,578 stores in the German market.

The outdoor category increased by 5.1 percent in the first five months. While outdoor shoes and outdoor apparel increased by 9.3 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively, sales of outdoor equipment decreased by 4.8 percent. The outdoor segment had accounted for 22 percent of the affiliated retailers' total sales in 2018, reaching €444 million.

The running apparel category rose by 15.5 percent, while sales of running shoes increased by 5.8 percent. Sales of multi-sport apparel increased by only 1.2 percent. In the football segment, sales went up by 10.9 percent for apparel and by 3.2 percent for equipment but fell by 1.3 percent for footwear. Sport 2000 claims to be the market leader for football apparel in Germany – online and offline.

The German buying group currently has 338 specialized outdoor retail partners, including 131 retailers that are part of the so-called Outdoor Profis group and represent 40 percent of total sales in Sport 2000's outdoor segment. The ranking of Sport 2000's leading suppliers in this category is now headed by Meindl, followed by Lowa, Hanwag, Tatonka and Mammut

Sport 2000 and 15 outdoor brands including Deuter, Gore-Tex, Falke, Lowa, Mammut, Meindl, Schöffel, Vaude and Jack Wolfskin will launch a new campaign in spring 2020, called “Mission Outdoor,” featuring online and offline advertising, print and TV commercials.

Sport 2000 will also launch a similar campaign internationally under the “Made for this” claim. A central website for the campaign will be introduced next year.

As previously reported, Sport 2000 Europe last year created the Absolute retail banner for affiliated retailers that want to adopt a harmonized specialist concept in the team sports, running, fitness and outdoor categories. The first Absolute Run store was opened on April 5 in Bonn. The third Absolute Teamsport store affiliated with Sport 2000 Germany opened in Münster this May, carrying mainly products by Adidas, Derbystar, Hummel, Jako, Nike and Puma. Two Absolute Teamsport stores were already opened in the region of Hessen.

Sport 2000 reported at the OutDoor by Ispo show in Munich that two more Absolute Teamsport stores will be opened in Aschaffenburg and at an undisclosed location in Northern Germany in the second half of this year. The second Absolute Run store will be opened in Siegen by the end of 2019.
