Sport Product Service (SPS), a German importer and licensee of sporting goods that filed for bankruptcy last spring after a poor winter, has a good chance to get out of its financial crisis. SPS’ owner and founder, Peter Drössler, is setting up a new company called Everest with the support of Alpina, a Slovenian company that has been represented in Germany by Drössler for 28 years, mainly in the area of ski boots. Until the bankruptcy filing, SPS marketed its own brands Everest (outdoor equipment) and Axces (winter hardgoods), and licensed products under the K2 (ice skates) and Koflach (outdoor footwear) brands. SPS also acted as importer for Trespass (outerwear) and Fizan (poles from Italy), besides Alpina.
