The organizing committee for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps is trying to arrest a pattern of senior departures.
Edgar Grospiron has stepped down as President of the Organizing Committee for the 2030 French Alps Winter Olympics. Four days after the official announcement of his departure, the executive board has appointed Vincent Roberti as Interim President. Roberti, who joined the Committee in June as Director General, will temporarily hold both positions, overseeing the body until a permanent chair is found.
Grospiron, 57, is a former freestyle skier and Olympic champion. He won a gold medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, as well a bronze medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. His tenure as President of the Organizing Committee had begun in February 2025. His decision to quit followed “months of tension,” Grospiron said via a post on LinkedIn.
Grospiron’s departure is only the latest upheaval in the event’s troubled governance. In February 2026, Chief Executive Officer Cyril Linette left the committee, citing internal disagreements. Prior to that, in December 2025, Chief Operating Officer Anne Murac left the role, less than six months after her appointment. Also, Director of Communications Arthur Richer left in January 2026.
To recognize his commitment as a former President, Grospiron will be awarded the title of Founding Member, the Committee said.
