In 2045, the UN will celebrate its 100-year anniversary. To mark this and to show support for the UN and its objectives, TBD Media Group has brought together businesses from around the world and across industries to showcase the actions being taken today that set the standard for better practices that protect people, planet and profit. It is telling these stories in a series of documentaries that examine how businesses in the world are harnessing innovation to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: The Vision 2045 series.

With goal three of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals being “Good health and well-being,” Asics has been chosen as the sporting brand to inspire businesses to take the collective action required to create a better future. The new short film in the series explores the origins of the Asics name, from the Latin expression “Anima Sana in Corpore Sano” (“A Sound Mind in a Sound Body”) and the brand’s 2022 State of Mind Index.

It also looks at Asics’ environmental efforts. Asics has set a goal of reducing 63 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2030 (2015 baseline) and using 100 percent renewable energy across business facilities. By 2050, the company is aiming to achieve net zero.

Featured in the film, amongst others, are president, CEO and COO Yasuhito Hirota, the executive officer and senior general manager of Asics Institute of Sport Science, Kenichi Harano, and Minako Yoshikawa, senior general manager of the sustainability division.
