The Berlin Fashion Week, which took place on June 28-30, was once again a successful platform for suppliers and retailers of action sports and sports-inspired lifestyle collections to meet and discover the new spring/summer 2017 collections.

Bright, the leading European trade show for streetwear, sneakers and skateboarding, took place for the second time under the new ownership of the Premium Group, which acquired the show last July. The 23rd edition of Bright was held at Arena Berlin, the same location as Seek, the young fashion fair of Premium.

More than 250 brands exhibited at Bright, including 42 new exhibitors such as Volcom, New Balance Numeric and Nikita. Other sports brands at the show were DC Shoes, DVS Shoes, Etnies, Globe, Levi's Skateboarding Collection and Vans.

In cooperation with Bright, Volcom launched a “Three Streets to Berlin” skate contest. From June 27 to 29, participants had the chance to skate at three different spots in the German capital, posting a clip of their best trick at each spot on Instagram. The €8,000 winner was announced at an event next to Bright on the last day of the show.

About 260 brands exhibited at the neighboring Seek trade show. One-third of them were new to the show and 80 percent arrived from outside Germany. Among others, the exhibiting brands included Hummel, Palladium, Puma Select, Reebok Classics, Kangaroos, K-Swiss, Alchemy Equipment and Fila.

Bright and Seek organized for the second time a “sneaker spot” in the Arena Club, which was open to end consumers, presenting 1,300 models from dozens of brands. In cooperation with eBay and, sneaker lovers of all ages were invited to sell and buy sneakers. While consumers were also able to purchase the shoes online on eBay, broadcasted the “sneaker spot” live.

Wolfskin Tech Lab, the new premium lifestyle brand of Jack Wolfskin, exhibited for the first time at Premium, held on June 28-30 at Station-Berlin (more on this our Outdoor Industry Compass).

Didriksons showed for the first time at Panorama, held simultaneously at the Berlin ExpoCenter, presenting its Originals product line, directed at fashion retailers and wholesalers. Starting with the autumn/winter 2017/18 line, Didrikson's product line will be clearly divided into “originals” and sportswear in the future (more on this our Outdoor Industry Compass). 

The organizers of Premium launched a joint ticketing system for Premium, Bright, Seek, the Green Showroom, the Ethical Fashion Show and Show & Order, simplifying attendance and drawing the events closer together. The next winter edition will take place on Jan. 17-19, once again at Arena Berlin, together with Seek.
