Suunto, the Finnish makers of sports instruments owned by Amer Sports, and Strava, a Swedish social network and developer of running and cycling apps, are expanding what has so far been a four-year partnership. Earlier this year, Suunto launched an app of its own. It has now become the interface for the Suunto 9 watch to connect the Strava network through Suunto's Movescount service. Users can track their performance and share with friends. Suunto's users connecting to Strava for the first time receive a 60-day free trial membership in the Strava Summit All Access. In return, Strava will soon be offering Suunto benefits to its Summit members. Suunto is aiming for universal compatibility with the world's top digital services. Its watches are currently compatible with about 200 services. To add to that number, the company plans to open its API to new coders.
