The Backenger backpack won this year's edition of the Oxylane Innovation Awards. Every year, the prize showcases the most innovative products and services developed by any of the exclusive brands of Oxylane, the parent company of Décathlon and other smaller retail chains. The Backenger is one of the items offered under Oxylane's Newfeel label. Developed in partnership with a brand of components, Strenfit, the Backenger is actually a cross between a backpack and a shoulder bag. In one simple movement, the shoulder bag's strap can be transformed into a backpack and vice versa. This movement does not diminish the comfort of the urban walker, who does not need to stop walking to adjust the bag. The Backenger also features a heat-shaped foam back, a non-slip shoulder pad, a bottle holder and a series of zipped compartments including one to protect a laptop of up to 15.4 inches. It will be available in Décathlon stores from March 2013.
