The Cycling Sports Group (CSG) of Dorel Sports is recalling about 23,000 Cannondale mountain bikes sold in the U.S. because their OPI tem/steering tube assemblies can fail, posing a risk of injury from a fall. About 800 additional units were sold in Canada. This recall involves all model years 2011 through 2015 Flash, FSi , F-4, F-5, F-29, Lexi, RZ, Scalpel and Trigger Cannondale mountain bicycles, with OPI stem/steering tube assemblies with “OPI” printed diagonally across the stem/steering tube in black letters. CSG has not received any reports of injuries related to the issue. However, the company has instructed consumers to immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and take them to the nearest authorized Cannondale dealer, which will repair them for free. Cannondale dealers will mount a locking reinforcement wedge assembly inside the OPI stem/steering tube and replace the clamp bolts. The bikes, manufactured in Taiwan, were sold by authorized Cannondale dealers in North America from July 2010 to July 2015 for between $2,000 and $10,000.
