The district court in Dortmund has terminated the insolvency proceeding of Sport Voswinkel, following the creditors' unanimous vote in favor of a recovery plan. The German sports retailer can start to operate again as an independent firm. The court opened the proceeding in July. The recovery plan includes the closure of 19 of the chain's 72 stores and 300 job cuts. The original plan called for a further 13 stores to be closed, but this was eventually avoided. The store in Cuxhaven will continue to operate under new owner. Sport Voswinkel, a subsidiary of Intersport Germany, operates 53 shops and employs around 950 people. In the financial year ended Sept. 30, 2018, the company recorded sales of around €139 million.
