The entrepreneur Carsten Maschmeyer has increased his share in Mifa by 4 percentage points to 33 percent, making him the largest shareholder of this traditional German bike maker. Maschmeyer started to invest in Mifa last October. Another member of the executive board, Peter Wicht, raised his share to 30 percent. In the first nine months of 2011, Mifa had a turnover of €93.4 million, up by 33.6 percent compared with the same period in the previous year. Maschmeyer has become famous in Germany recently, not only because he is now the fiancé of Veronica Ferres, a very popular actress in the country. He was also reportedly one of the “buddies” who are said to have financed the former president of Germany, Christian Wulff, at least indirectly. Wulff had to resign last month due to unclear financial transactions revealing a large network of “friends” of the head of state; while all the rumors or proven facts were not connected with his role as Germany's president, they were tied to his previous role as prime minister of the state of Lower Saxony.
