The European Health & Fitness Association (EHFA), which represents the interests of the health & fitness sector at the EU level in Brussels, and FIBO, international German-based trade show for health and fitness, have agreed on the development of a number of joint activities, which are set to take place from 2014 onwards. In January 2014, the two partners will organize the first ever “FIBO Innovations Tour,” involving the cities of Helsinki (Jan. 21), Stockholm (Jan. 23), London (Jan. 28) and Warsaw (Jan. 30). During a joint one-day seminar, in cooperation with the national associations of each host country, speakers will address the current trends and major innovations in the sector. Participation in these seminars is free. Then, on April 2 in Cologne, 2014, FIBO and the EHFA will jointly organize the first “EHFA European Health & Fitness Forum,” covering such topics as healthcare developments in Europe, demographic trends and socio-economic developments, and exploring their impact on the health and fitness sector between now and 2025. Speakers will come from universities, EU bodies and the health & fitness sector. New research will be released during the forum about the size and scope of the sector, complemented by recommendations for policy makers to combat the problem of physical inactivity among European populations. In addition, FIBO has agreed to become a co-sponsor of the EHFA/Deloitte European Market Research, due to be published in early April. Some key findings will be presented at the Cologne forum.
