The Finnish company Halti has been named the official clothing provider for that country’s Olympic athletes through the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The athletes, coaches and other staff will debut the line at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. Some of the products will be available at retail during the Vancouver Games. In addition, Halti is a main sponsor and the official clothing provider of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, which start on Feb. 2 in Val d’Isère, France. Since the championship has a theme of environmental awareness, Halti has created a suit for officials and volunteers made from recycled materials. Forty-seven percent of the Drymaxx fabric in the jackets and pants come from plastic bottles, old clothes and industrial fiber waste. The collection will be available for consumers for winter 2009-10.
