The first Intersport Adventure shop in Germany, located in Dûsseldorf, will shut down at the end of April, but a second one is opening in the medium-sized town of Kleve, close to Germany’s border with the Netherlands. The new store will be operated by a local Intersport member in a shopping mall and will have a surface of 300 square meters. The first shop of the kind, the Dûsseldorf-based store was opened two and a half years ago by Bergsport Sundermann, a well established mountaineering retailer of Münster, Westphalia. It is said that the failure is not due to the concept but rather to the limited enthusiasm that Düsseldorfers seem to have for outdoor sports.
