The Italian government is considering a proposal by the industry organization ANCMA for a 30 percent tax incentive on electric bikes. Not only would this help cut carbon emissions in urban areas, but could significantly increase sales of e-bikes. The incentive would apply to all e-bikes of 250 watts or less, and be limited to a maximum of €700 of the retail price including VAT. It would be granted only if the manufacturer or importer is associated with ANCMA or ICE-CIVES (the Italian organization for electric road vehicles). The Ministry of the Environment would specify which bikes are eligible and update the list annually.
