The Norwegian ski sector does not seem visibly affected by the financial crisis thanks to more snow than usual for the early winter season. Gresvig, the company behind G-Sport, Intersport and Sportshuset retail chains in Norway, represents 50 percent of ski-related sales in the country and reported 37 percent higher sales in December, as compared to the same period the previous year. The group expects annual sales growth of 4 percent in 2008 and 3 percent in 2009. Cross-country skis and children’s alpine skis are the most popular products, according to the country’s trade association, Sportbransjen.
