The organizers of Prowinter, the trade show that is having its 10th edition April 13-15, are happy to report a robust industry in the wake of good snow conditions in Europe. Ski and snowboard rentals, in particular, are doing very well. It cites figures from Skiset, the online company that sorts and places rental requests to 320 locations in France, 120 in Italy and 210 across Austria, Switzerland and Spain – it had turnover of €350 million in 2008. Intersport also improved, with a 41 percent increase in internet-based equipment rentals in 2008, and Sport 2000’s Ski-Way, started in 2007, now has more than 60 locations. Prowinter will be held at the same time as Alpitec, the showcase for alpine and winter technologies.
