The organizers of the European Outdoor Summit felt that its seventh edition in Interlaken was “a resounding success,” although the number of delegates declined to just over 200 from 300 a year ago, when the highly dynamic Scandinavian Outdoor Group (SOG) played host. There is no similar industry association in Switzerland to pull the local industry officials. This year, the participants came from 13 countries, led by Germany, the U.K., Italy and Switzerland. The turnout is expected to go up again next year, when another big association, the French-based Outdoor Sports Valley, will play host to the EOS in the city of Annecy on Oct. 15 and 16. The move of the EOS to Annecy, a very important outdoor industry cluster at the foot of the French Alps, will be a return of the event to its roots, as the event started off as a European Outdoor Forum organized by Outdoor Sports Valley.
