The Signa Sports Group has appointed Christian Bubenheim, an online retailing specialist, to become chief executive of Internetstores, its online retailing entity specializing in cycling and outdoor products. He started at the beginning of June. Internetstores encompasses about 30 online stores in 13 countries, such as Bikester, Probikeshop, Campz and Addnature. It was estimated to generate sales of about €160 million in 2016, when it was acquired by Signa. The company describes Internetstores as Europe's leading online provider of bike and outdoor products and said that its sales have increased by 20 percent so far this year. Formerly at Amazon Germany and Scout 24, Bubenheim is meant to drive the next phase of growth at Internetstores. He was a member of the executive leadership team at Scout24 from 2015, in charge of the AutoScout24 business and part of the team that led the company's initial public offering. At Amazon, he worked in the Prime and Consumable divisions. Internetstores has been led in the last weeks by Stephan Zoll, who was formerly in charge of eBay in Germany and was appointed as chief executive of the Signa Sports Group in April. It was announced at the same time that Markus Winter, former chief executive at Internetstores, would be leaving the company by mutual agreement. Zoll said in a statement that Signa Sports Grup will continue to extend its leading position in Europe with strong and profitable growth, led by Internetstores as a key pillar in its strategy.
