The supervisory board of Intersport Österreich has unanimously elected Gabriele Fenninger to be a member of the executive board for three more years, and to be its president. She first joined the Austrian buying cooperative in 1978 and she has been acting as managing director of its operating subsidiary, Intersport Austria, since 2003, sharing responsibilities with Alois Grüblinger since 2006. Grüblinger, who joined the group in 1976, handling data processing and other services, has now been allowed to join Fenninger on the executive board. Market research shows that Intersport remains the leading retail player in the Austrian sporting goods market with a share of 37.3 percent. It has set the target to keep its leadership in Austria and Slovakia and to reach the leadership also in the Czech Republic and Hungary over the next three years.
