The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation has released new Wastewater Guidelines, which are meant to harmonize expectations across the global apparel and textile supply chain. A study carried out last year had revealed a lack of consistency leading to confusion within the value chain, ZDHC said. The new guidelines, available for download free from the ZDHC website, include a harmonised set of wastewater parameters, limit values and test methods. They were finalized through extensive collaboration between contributors, NGOs, suppliers, a technical advisory committee, and input from the public. The new guidelines have been endorsed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and have been incorporated into the next version of the Higg Index.
