Three months of excellent growth in the Swedish sporting goods industry, which made up for a decline in the market last year, came to an end in April as sales took a negative turn. According to HUI Research, April sales decreased by 5.5 percent when compared with the same month last year. At constant prices, sales were down by 4.7 percent. This means that the total sales growth for the first four months of 2012 was just under 10 percent in both categories, compared with the poor start of 2011. HUI predicts, however, that April is likely to be an exception and that a rising sales trend will show up for the full calendar year.
