Thule, the large Swedish supplier of car racks and other sports and utility transportation units, announced the appointment of a new president and chief executive just as it was exhibiting for the first time at Ispo in a bid to enter the European sporting goods retail market, as it is already doing in the U.S. The new CEO, Magnus Welender, has been running the company’s largest unit – vehicle accessories for Europe and Asia – which generates an annual turnover of over 2 billion SEK (€203.3m-$278.4m). On April 1, he will replace the outgoing CEO, Anders Petterson, after eight years in the post. Petterson will remain a member of the board.
