Timberland has bought Howies, a small UK-based action sports and outdoor apparel company that focuses on clothing for skateboarding, BMX and mountain biking. The acquisition goes well with Timberland’s ongoing effort to project the image of an earth-conscious company. The Howies brand uses organically grown cotton in some of its apparel lines. Its special dying process for denim minimizes the use of chemicals. The Wales-based company becomes a subsidiary of Timberland, with no change in its management or its current facilities. Separately, Timberland has extended its cooperation with Samsonite, which will be in charge to develop a line of TBL Travel luggage and daybacks, including a group of Timber Kids packs.
