Todd Lewis has been appointed as global director of performance running footwear at Mizuno USA, starting this week. His brief is to lead the design and development of Mizuno's performance running footwear. Although he will be part of the global product team, Lewis will be based in Portland, Oregon. Mizuno USA, which is established near Atlanta, has been working on the opening of a Running Center of Excellence in Portland, which Lewis is meant to develop. The Portland Business Journal reports that Mizuno USA expects to employ eight people at the center by the end of the year. The expansion comes just after the announcement of Under Armour's own plans to develop in Portland. A former track and field athlete, Lewis has a track record of more than 15 years in the running business, starting at Nike. He was most recently global footwear product director at Columbia Sportswear, managing design and development for all footwear brands, from Sorel to Columbia and Montrail.
