Tom Knight, former chief executive of JJB Sports, has been appointed chairman of Fibodo, which specializes in cloud-based management software for sports and activity professionals. The name of the company stands for Find It, Book It, Do It. Knight is a well-known personality in the British sports business, where he started off at Adidas. He went on to form his own sports retail company, which he sold to Blacks Leisure. He then became chief executive of this outdoor retail group until he switched to the same function at JJB Sports, for five years until 2007. The sports retailer expanded profitably under his tenure but it was subsequently sold and went out of business in 2012. Since he left JJB Sports, Knight has set up his own consultancy and completed assignments for companies such as JD Sports and Manchester City football club. Fibodo is intended for coaches to manage their services and time, for sports clubs to help grow their membership, and for individuals to book their lessons or facilities. Knight said in a statement that Fibodo could do for the sports and activities market what AirBnB has done for the travel industry.
