Tomáš Berdych appeared at the Qatar Open earlier this month in Adidas apparel, on the back of a multi-year agreement signed with the German brand. The Czech player is currently number six in the ATP rankings and he has been a regular feature in the top ten for the last five years. Berdych reached the semi-finals in Qatar. Adidas no longer sponsors tennis players as prominently as a few years ago but Sportbusiness.com reports that the deal with Berdych marks sharply increased investment in the sport – second only to the package obtained by Andy Murray when he switched from Adidas to Under Armour last year. Berdych was previously with H&M, which has made him with stand out with more than colorful outfits. Berdych is the highest-ranked player on the roster of male players who wear Adidas apparel (Novak Djokovic wears Adidas footwear only, while his apparel is from Uniqlo). Other endorsees include Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki.
