As a part of its efforts to extend its reach in Europe, Bianchi Turkey, owner of Atala in Italy since 2005, has bought another bike brand in Italy and is starting a parts and accessories company, Byte. The newly acquired company is Carraro Industria Cicli, which will be handled by Atala.
Carraro offers mountain bikes as well as cycles for road racing, city & trekking and children. Bianchi will now sell across the range of prices, with Carraro in the high to middle price range and Atala in the entry- to mid-level. Whistle, a brand distributed by Atala, is at the high end.
Byte will be led by Moreno Fioravanti, who headed up Vuelta for many years and is the president of COLIPED, the European association for bicycle component and accessory manufacturers. Byte will launch its parts and accessories program next week at the EICMA Bici Show in Milan.
Bianchi Turkey is exempt from duties on bicycle exports to Europe.
