Umbro has become a partner of England’s bid to host the football World Cup in 2018. Owned by the Nike group and endorsed by the English football team, Umbro has launched a viral campaign encouraging members of the public to back England’s bid. From Noel Gallagher to Michael Owen and Alan Shearer, personalities have agreed to appear in clips explaining why they think England should host the competition. Other people will be encouraged to produce and post their own clips in support of England’s bid through Umbro’s website – with a trip to Wembley at stake, offered by the brand for a qualifying game of the European championships. The campaign will run until September, three months before Fifa makes its decision.
