Umbro’s licensee in Brazil, Dass, is taking over the rights for Argentina from a company owned by a former English football player, Brian Handley. Dass, a Brazilian-based group that generated total sales of more than €280 million last year, recently bought the rights to the Fila brand for all of Latin America and gave up a contract for Kappa and Robe di Kappa in Brazil. The company will run Fila and Umbro from the same office in Argentina, where the two brands had sales of €32 million last year. Dass already makes shoes and clothing in Argentina under its own two brands, Tyron and Dilly, and for major clients such as Converse and Nike. It will now also make them for Fila and Umbro.
