Under Armour has a new Chief Design Officer in fashion industry veteran John Varvatos, who will join the company on Sept. 11, 2023. Varvatos joined UA as a consultant earlier this year and brings his extensive expertise in style and form to the company. He will lead the company’s creative design direction and oversee design studios in New York, Baltimore and Portland, Oregon.

Varvatos has decades of experience, working for brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Converse and his eponymous John Varvatos brand, which offered „contemporary sportswear,” among others. A true visionary, John Varvatos designed both the boxer brief for Calvin Klein and the laceless sneaker for Converse during his fifteen-year association with the John Varvatos brand.

While Stephanie Linnartz, President and Chief Executive Officer of Under Armour, said Varvatos’ track record and thirty-year career speak for themselves, the designer commented, “The innovation, design and mission of the brand have never been more relevant as consumers demand clothes that function for both sport and everyday activities. I cannot wait to unveil that next chapter in Under Armour’s incredible story.”
