Under Armour has signed a multi-year technical partnership deal with the São Paulo football club, starting in May, to support its growing commitment to global football and the establishment of its Brazilian subsidiary prior to the latest World Cup. The team was said to have the third-largest number of Brazilian supporters after Flamengo, which is sponsored by Adidas, and Corinthians, another club in São Paulo that is sponsored by Nike. As sponsor of the São Paulo club, Under Armour is taking the place of a local brand, Penalty, which succeeded Reebok in 2013. Under Armour has contracts also with the Tottenham Hotspur in England, the Colo-Colo team in Chile, and Cruz Azul and Toluca in Mexico.
