Uvex will be changing to 100 percent renewable energies for all of its locations in Germany. The company has signed a contract with Infra Fürth, a supplier of green energy that is certified by German Technical Control Board (TÜV), in order to secure a more sustainable production. The contract runs at least until 2017. By using green energy, Uvex will save up to 8,248 tons of carbon dioxide. Until now, Uvex' locations in Fürth, Lederdorn, Lüneburg, Obernzell and Schwabach received green energy from hydroelectric power stations in Norway. Additionally, with the help of a new cooling device, which was implemented last year, Uvex managed to reduce the cost of energy, carbon dioxide emissions and noise.
