Vans has come out with a recyclable sandal in a new partnership with Plus Compound Technologies, the maker of PLUSfoam recyclable material. The Nexpa sandal is available worldwide through select retailers. Michael Carr, the associate general manager at Plus Compound Technologies, noted that for the manufacturing run of Nexpa sandals, Vans avoided the production of about 2,000 pounds of scrap material. Instead, Plus reconstitutes and reuses the material for other products. The company has reclaim facilities in the U.S. and Asia where any products made with its special compounds can be returned.
