VF Corporation has decided to pull the Jansport brand of backpacks and daybacks out of the European market after the spring/summer 2013 season. It will do the same thing in the Americas for its other, more fashion-oriented brand, Eastpak, but it will continue to market both brands in Asia. The group's decision to focus on Jansport in the Americas and Eastpak in Europe is based on the fact that these brands are market leaders in the respective territories, and that that there is a certain cross-over between them in terms of product and distribution. In Europe, the more technical part of the Jansport line will be replaced by the strong backpack collection of The North Face.
