Vulkan, a UK-based supplier of muscle and bone supports for various sports activities, has become the sole distributor for Sorbothane, the British insole brand, in the UK and the rest of the European continent and the Middle East, including the former Russian states. Vulkan, which is part of the Mobilis Healthcare Group, has yet to finalize arrangements in some countries such as France where Sorbothane’s existing distributor, Sacedi, accounted for a significant proportion of the brand’s total business. According to Sorbothane’s brand manager, Mark Harrison, Sorbothane’s business in the USA and Australasia will continue to function as before and will remain unaffected by the new arrangement with Vulkan. Leyland Rubber, which sold the Sorbothane brand to Phoenix Medical four years ago, will continue to manufacture Sorbothane products for Mobilis Healthcare. Members of Phoenix Medical’s management team have moved across to continue their work for Mobilis Healthcare, but Sorbothane’s former brand manager, Martin Newton, and Nina Humphreys, who was in charge of marketing, are no longer with the company.
