While Asics sets up new subsidiaries in India and Singapore (see the full results story in the issue), Brooks Sports is boosting its presence in Japan, the world's second-largest running market, with the opening of its new subsidiary there, Brooks Sports K.K., in partnership with Custom Produce. This is another step toward the company's goal of being the leader in performance running by 2020, and its first big step in the Asia-Pacific region. With its new partnership, Brooks has doubled it expectations for this year's sales in the Japanese market. Brooks Sports K.K. is the company's second international subsidiary after Brooks EMEA, based in Germany, and its sales grew by 40 percent last year. Overall, the company's sales outside the U.S. grew by 26 percent in 2011.
