While confirming Giancarlo Zanatta of Tecnica Group as chairman of Assosport until 2010, the general assembly of the Italian sporting goods industry association has elected three new vice presidents: Enrico Mambelli of Diadora, Giulio Colombo of Colmar and Roberto Benetello, country manager of Life Fitness. A total of 160 companies representing some 300 brands are now members of this rather dynamic association, which has been undertaking many new initiatives. One of them, called Assofitness, is a project intended to stimulate greater sports participation in Italy, involving even the medical profession. The Italian Foreign Trade Commission (ICE) is sponsoring an Italian Gallery put together by Assosport to promote the Italian industry at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
