Willi Darr, who has been managing director of Karstadt Sport since the beginning of this year, will join the board of Otto Group’s retail division on Dec. 1, where he will be in charge of purchases. He succeeds Hans-Otto Schrader, the group’s new chief executive. The 46-year-old Darr has worked for Karstadt since 1992. Since 2000, Darr was responsible for purchasing textile products at Karstadt’ former mail-order sister, Quelle, where he also directed the purchase of sporting goods. He came into the Karstadt Sport business when its former general manager, Stefan Herzog, returned to Sport Scheck as managing director.
