Wintersteiger says that Markus Würcher has been appointed head of sales and product management for its Sports Business Unit and for two others within the group, Seedmech and Woodtech, implementing the decisions mentioned in our last issue. Wolfgang Berghammer, former head of Wintersteiger's Sports BU, left the company in March and has been succeeded by Daniel Steiniger, who was responsible in the past two years for Bootdoc insoles, socks and tools within the segment. Würcher worked at Johnson & Johnson in Salzburg and Paris as product manager and international marketing manager between 1990 and 1997. He then returned to Salzburg to work as regional manager for Southeastern Europe at Red Bull. Between 2003 and 2014, Würcher acted as managing director of Trodat, world market leader for automatic stamps based in Wels, Austria. In contrast with what we published in the last issue, Wintersteiger's Sports BU generated sales of more than €50 million last year, and sales so far this year have been about the same as in 2014 in spite of the weather situation and the turmoil in Russia after the Sochi Olympics.
