Japanese YKK Corporation has been selected as a “supplier engagement leader,” the highest score on the 2022 Supplier Engagement Report (SER) from CDP for the first time. CDP is an international environmental non-profit focused on measuring and reporting companies’ environmental impact (it also published a global supply chain report and a company ranking of environmental performance on its website).
CDP’s annual SER assesses how effectively companies engage with their suppliers on climate change issues based on the CDP climate change questionnaire. It covers governance, targets, value chain (scope 3) emissions, supplier engagement strategies, and factors in the company’s climate score. YKK’s latest recognition by CDP places the company in the top 8 percent of companies evaluated for supplier engagement on climate change. The company has published its emission reduction targets (as reported in OIC) and is a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation network. In December 2022, YKK received an “A-” rating from CDP in its 2021 climate change survey.
In addition, the Italian subsidiary of the Japanese brand, YKK Italia S.p.A., has also joined the material hub of Creativity Lifestyle And Sustainable Synergy (C.L.A.S.S), an internationally active, Milan-based eco-hub that engages for change towards sustainability in the textile industry.
