The Adidas Arena was officially inaugurated in Paris’s 18th arrondissement, near Porte de la Chapelle, on Feb. 11, hosting a match between Paris Basketball and Saint-Quentin Basket-Ball. The venue will be hosting badminton and rhythmic gymnastics during the upcoming Olympics, and then para-badminton and para-powerlifting during the Paralympics. The Paris 2024 Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, followed by the Paralympic Games from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
The Adidas Arena is designed to accommodate nearly 8,000 spectators. Adidas acquired naming rights for the venue in July 2022. Aside from serving as the home of Paris Basketball and hosting the summer games, the venue will be used for national and international sporting events as well as concerts and conferences. The Arena’s seats are made from recycled plastic – six million plastic bottle caps repurposed for the occasion – and will be powered by green energy.
